Hackers Take Down Matercard Website As Revenge For Julian Assange Arrest
Hackers Disable MasterCard and Other Sites for WikiLeaks Censorship
The UK's Guardian is reporting that hackers have disabled websites of credit card company MasterCard and the Swedish prosecution authority in retaliation for their attempts to distance themselves from WikiLeaks.The attack referred to as Operation Payback is being conducted by online supporters of the information-leaking site and its founder, Julian Assange, who is in UK custody for allegations of raping two Swedish women.
The Swedish prosecution authority and MasterCard, which was attacked for the decision to cease taking donations to WikiLeaks for the organization's illegal activities, are the latest in a string of global web attacks targeting those who have antagonized or censored WikiLeaks. The website of the Swedish lawyer defending the alleged victims was also disabled.
WikiLeaks received criticism for its recent leak of classified U.S. military documents that some argue puts national security of the country in jeopardy.
A supposed Operation Payback statement circulating online threatens, "We will fire at anything or anyone that tries to censor WikiLeaks, including multibillion-dollar companies such as PayPal... Twitter, you're next for censoring #WikiLeaks (the WikiLeaks hashtag) discussion. The major shitstorm has begun."

Iraq Vet: WikiLeaks tells the truth
The largest intel leak in the United States history, has been the most revealing account of any war in history. Over 400,000 classified US military documents on the Iraq war were released by the whistle blowing website WikiLeaks and its founder Julian Assange. Iraq war veteran Josh Steiber says that what was reported in WikiLeaks was not only accurate but should be questioned more by US officials.

Wikileaks founder claims smear campaign
Sweden's prosecutors are trying to decide how to deal with sex allegations against Wikileaks founder Julian Assange. The accusations were made by two women. But rape charges were dropped after one of them said her sexual relations with Assange were consensual. However, he is still under investigation for alleged molestation. The White House has condemned the leaks of more than 90,000 classified documents on the war in Afghanistan posted by the whistleblower website, Wikileaks.
The Pentagon earlier called the release "criminal", and said it could take weeks to assess any damage that the leaks may have caused.

Wikileaks, blowing the whistle
92,000 internal records, related to the war in Afghanistan from 2004 to present were leaked yesterday from the whistle blowing website Wikileaks.org. The documents include plans and accounts of Coalition operations, descriptions of enemy attacks and records of meetings with local Afghan politicians, among other things.

June 18, 2010 — Pentagon investigators are reportedly still searching for Wikileaks co-founder Julian Assange, who helped release a classified US military video showing a US helicopter gunship indiscriminately firing on Iraqi civilians. The US military recently arrested Army Specialist Bradley Manning, who may have passed on the video to Wikileaks. Manning's arrest and the hunt for Assange has put the spotlight on the Obama administration's campaign against whistleblowers and leakers of classified information. We speak to Daniel Ellsberg, who's leaking of the Pentagon Papers has made him perhaps the nation's most famous whistleblower; Birgitta Jonsdottir, a member of the Icelandic Parliament who has collaborated with WikiLeaks and drafted a new Icelandic law protecting investigative journalists; and Glenn Greenwald, political and legal blogger for Salon.com.

June 11, 2010 — The website Wikileaks gained worldwide notoriety in April when it released classified US military footage of a helicopter shooting at a group of mostly unarmed men in Baghdad.
US officials are concerned that the alleged source of that leak, an American soldier now in US custody, may have passed on many more government secrets.
