Oil doomed after BP Gulf spill, clean energy is future
June 19, 2010 — The US is experiencing a fundamental shift in the economy and is literally handing over the mantle of economic leadership to China, believes Chief Market Economist Michael Norman, of John Thomas Financial. He also said that the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico will definitely speed up the process towards cleaner fuels, alternative energy and renewable sources of energy.

Barack Obama, the US president, said BP will have to bear the brunt for the massive damage it has caused to the environment, people and businesses. Latest Footage of Gas Burn Off at BP Oil Spill Site
May 20, 2010 — A small portion of the giant oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has reached a powerful current that could carry it as far as Florida and Cuba. Right now, BP is bringing a mixture of natural gas and oil up to a ship which is storing it and burning off the gas. The United States has already imposed a large no-fishing zone in waters affected by the spill.

May 03, 2010 — LOUISIANA - OIL SLICK: BP announced they would pay volunteers 10 dollars an hour while contractors would pay up to 18 dollars an hour to support shoreline clean up. Fishermen would also be paid for the use of their boats.

Obama pledges action against oil spill
May 02, 2010 — Barack Obama, the US president, has promised "to do whatever it takes" to stop the oil slick that emanated from a damaged rig from devastating the country's gulf coast, which he called a "massive and potentially unprecedented disaster".
Obama made the comments after holding talks on the crisis with officials in Louisiana, one of the four states threatened by the slick.
The president also acknowledged that the spill could be disastrous for the fishing industry in the region, which has prime spawning waters for fish, shrimp and crabs.
Al Jazeera's Sebastian Walker reports from Venice in Louisiana, where the fishing industry has been hit hard by the disaster.
