The Portuguese Finance Minister says he doesn't expect Lisbon to ask for a bailout to resolve its economic problems. Senior officials from the country have been resolutely denying media rumours that Portugal is being pushed to ask for a hundred-billion dollar package. But member of the European Parliament, Rui Tavares says Portugal is likely to be next in line to suffer from the curse of the Eurozone.

Riots rage in Chile as gas price hike fuels flames of anger
Riots are raging in southern Chile with two women killed and four others injured. Protesters are out in anger at gas price increases, which are reportedly due to troubles experienced by the state-owned petroleum company. 21 people have been arrested.
