Slovak police send explosives to Ireland by mistake - 06 Jan 10

The world may be on high alert for airline attacks, but that didn't stop a consignment of plastic explosives being smuggled into Ireland, by accident.

As part of a training exercise, Slovakian police hid explosives in unsuspecting travellers' luggage at the country's main airport.

They found most of it, but a batch of explosives still managed to end up on a Dublin-bound Danube Wings plane, leading to a police raid and the temporary arrest of an unwitting smuggler.

All travellers on U.S.-bound flights will be subject to random screening. But visitors from 14 countries, dubbed 'of interest,' face additional scrutiny.
