Europe's air traffic ban loosened, more test flights underway after Iceland volcano paralyzes Europe
April 18, 2010 — Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro have announced they are reopening their airspace Sunday one day after it was closed due to an ash cloud from an erupting Iceland volcano. Germany is also loosening its flights ban allowing some traffic at 6 Northern airports. It comes as several airlines including Dutch KLM, Air France and Germany's Lufthansa, carry out test flights through the ash cloud and report no damage to their aircraft. For days air space has been closed in most of Europe affecting millions of people's travel plans. The volcano in the south of Iceland began erupting on Wednesday, sending plumes of ash several kilometres into the air.
