Palin reaches out to political base at Daytona 500 in Florida
Nascar racing is one the most popular and largest spectator sports in the United States, with a fan-base that is largely politically conservative.
That made it a good venue for Sarah Palin, the former Republican governor, to try to win back some of those supporters who have faded away following her failed bid the for vice presidency in 2008.
Al Jazeera's Mike Kirsch reports from Daytona Beach in Florida, where Palin attended Nascar's Daytona 500, which has an average spectator turnout of 150,000 people.
